The Real File System, often abbreviated as RFS is the ordinary filesystem of the operatings system (e.g. Windows or Linux).

Some files that are important for running opencms reside just there and are consequently just ordinary files. The real filesystem especially contains those parts of opencms that are necessary for running the basic system so that it can connect to the database and access all other files from the the so-called Virtual File System.
